Don’t feel bad for me, Tumblr

I’m spending NYE quite productively, at home, alone, making charts of my 2012 reading.

Pie charts are more fun than alcohol. Zeg dat ik het gezegd heb.

Goodreads really needs a “Currently Re-reading” option.

The lack of re-read friendly features is why I deleted my Goodreads. Shelfari is much much better for that, even though, sadly, little interaction is possible there.

"Did it matter then, she asked herself, walking towards Bond Street, did it matter that she must inevitably cease completely; all this must go on without her; did she resent it; or did it not become consoling to believe that death ended absolutely? but that somehow in the streets of London, in the ebb and flow of things, here, there, she survived, Peter survived, lived in eachother, she being part, she was positive, of the trees at home; of the house there, ugly, rambling all to bits and pieces as it was; part of people she had never met; being laid out like a mist between the people she knew best, who lifted her on their branches as she had seen the trees lift the mist, but it spread ever so far, her life, herself."

Words are wind, they say in Westeros, in Essos, in Sothoros. George R. R. Martin seemed to etch these words in my brain, over and over again. Words are wind. But he’s wrong. Words are not wind, at least not his.

I love books, but I’m…

"Why did it seem like elegance in him, that evasiveness? How would he look to her, seem to her, if he had not been, for so many years, the weight on the family’s heart, the unnamed absence, like the hero in a melancholy tale? It seemed to her as if he ought to have been beautiful, and he was not."
